Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust ®

The Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust® was formed in 1999. Preferred, which is self-governed by a Board of Trustees, was created to provide Workers' Compensation, Property, and Casualty coverages to all segments of the public entity insurance marketplace. Preferred enjoys a unique distinction in comparison to other Trusts in that it maintains minimal risk by purchasing excess of loss coverage at relatively low retention levels. Public Risk Underwriters of Florida, Inc.®, the program administrator instrumental in forming the program, carries out the day-to-day administrative, underwriting, marketing and risk management services.

Public Risk Underwriters of Florida, Inc.® , the program administrator for Preferred, provides the following key benefits:

  • »  Underwriting discipline built on integrity and selectivity.
  • »  Program options include guaranteed cost, deductibles, self-insured retentions and basket aggregate products.
  • »  Competitive premium discounts are available based on favorable experience.
  • »  A comprehensive safety management program is provided to all members, including on-site safety evaluations, job hazard analysis, drug-free workplace policies, and educational training assistance.
  • »  Preferred Newsletter, published quaterly, provides members with valuable information pertaining to the specific issues facing Florida's public entities.
